Automation Solutions
At Lean Production Systems we have completed many successful automation projects. These projects have involved many different types of automation, material handling, sorting, assembly etc. and utilised custom machines, robots and conveyors. What these have in common is the return on investment they delivered for our clients, that is our definition of success. We use the term appropriate automation to define our approach to these projects. The goal is not to automate a process; the goal is to reduce unit cost. This can come from reducing the labour content, reduce cycle times, improving quality and /or increasing capacity. Our automation solutions have ranged from material presentation for an operator to complete automation of an assembly process. There are many operations that can be most cost effectively carried out by operators. Appropriate Automation looks at the value added at each step of the process and applies the most effective solution to deliver that value, an operator fully engaged in value adding activities can be a valuable asset to your process that may not be cost effective to replace with a machine. Other simple, repetitive tasks or dangerous tasks may be automated very cost effectively.
Why Automate
- Reduce unit cost
- Increase capacity
- Reduce variability – increase quality
- Simple, Repetitive tasks
- Manually difficult or dangerous tasks
Lean Production systems will engage with you in understanding your process and work with you to define the value adding steps, eliminate or reduce the rest and then apply the appropriate automation to deliver sustained unit cost reduction. We have worked with our partners to deliver robotics, custom machines, optimised workstations and the integration of off-the-shelf equipment. We look forward to the opportunity to consider your challenges and to evaluate how appropriate automation can add value to your processes.
